Text limit validation is imposed on the open-ended questions where respondents are required to type in a specific format of input or with limited characters.
Validation on a textbox means you can limit the ways in which the users answer a question. The answer must pass the defined rules or validation that were set by the survey authority for that particular question. Such text validations help the survey creators to gather information in a particular way which can be easily analyzed for service results.
Text limit validation will not make the question mandatory for the respondents to answer, it will just define a certain limit on the characters that they choose to enter. Text limit validation can be performed on a text box that takes comments, single row, multiple rows, email address, numeric input, etc. as answers.

Test limit validation allows you to restrict the length of an answer any respondent types in. This comes in handy especially when the researcher conducts a feedback survey.
Along with limited responses, concise responses are collected as the number of characters are limited which will make the respondents to be short and stick to the point.
